Jolie Holland

Bio:
Excavating the roots of gospel, blues, jazz, and regional styles of American music, Texas-born song writer Jolie Holland has carved out a niche for herself in contemporary indie rock. The self-taught musician spent her teenage years singing and performing violin, viola, and guitar on the streets of New Orleans, Austin, San Francisco, and Vancouver–a past that speaks to her vast range of influences. In the early 2000s Jolie released a series of solo demo recordings that attracted national attention from critics and iconic artists alike, including Tom Waits, who nominated Jolie for the esteemed Shortlist music prize. After signing with Anti Records, Jolie released her studio debut, Escondida (2004), followed by Springtime Can Kill You (2006), The Living and the Dead (2008) and her most recent album Pint of Blood (2011). Jolie has collaborated with the likes of M. Ward, radical hip hop artist Boots Riley of the Coup, and Booker T. Jones. Jolie Holland will join OneBeat at Roulette and the Bring to Light Festival in NYC.
